PILLAR 05 Governance · GDPR-compliant · audit-ready · sovereign

Responsible AI, built-in.

The AI policy conversation is the one stopping most IB schools from adopting AI. iBMarker treats governance as a first-class feature, not a compliance afterthought - so your leadership team, IT department, and IB coordinator have the answers ready before they're asked.

Compliance is not a checkbox.

Four layers - compliance, audit, policy, and sovereignty - cover the questions IT, legal, and IB coordinators actually ask.

01 - GDPR-compliant by design

Student data sits in EU data centres.

Every student record, submission, and AI interaction lives in EU-resident infrastructure with encryption at rest (AES-256) and in transit (TLS 1.3). Data subject rights - access, rectification, erasure, portability - are surfaced directly in the platform: students and parents can request a full data export or full erasure without an email chain. A current Data Processing Addendum is available on request for schools that need one for procurement.

What you get

EU residency
Data never leaves European centres.
DPA on file
Signed processing agreement for procurement.
02 - Audit-ready logs

Every AI action, tamper-evident.

Every AI mark, every generated question, every override, every login is captured in an append-only audit log - timestamped, signed, and exportable. When the IB asks how a particular score was reached, you can pull the rubric criteria the AI used, the level descriptor it matched, and the teacher's override (if any). Logs are retained for seven years by default; export to your own SIEM if you'd prefer.

What you get

24/7 audit trail
Every AI action, signed and timestamped.
7-year retention
Aligned to IB record-keeping norms.
03 - Policy templates, built-in

The AI policy your school needs - pre-drafted.

Most schools don't yet have a documented AI policy because nobody on staff has time to write one. iBMarker ships with editable policy templates covering acceptable AI use, academic-integrity boundaries, student-data handling, and teacher-override expectations - written with the IB Diploma context in mind. Adapt to your school, share with parents, and present to your governing board. The platform's defaults align to the policy out of the box, so it's enforced, not just published.

What you get

Pre-drafted
Editable templates, IB-context aware.
Enforced
Platform defaults match the policy.
04 - Data sovereignty roadmap

Self-hosted LLM for full sovereignty.

EU data centres satisfy most schools today. For institutions that require on-premises data residency - government schools, certain ministries, schools in regions with strict data export rules - a self-hosted open-source LLM deployment is on the roadmap. The platform runs entirely inside your own infrastructure: your servers, your storage, your network. Student data never touches a third-party cloud. Get in touch if you'd like to be in the early-access cohort.

How we treat AI in education.

Four commitments that shape every product decision.

01

Teacher in the loop

AI proposes, teacher decides. Full override on every score, every comment, every flag.

02

Explainable scores

Every mark traceable to a rubric criterion, a level descriptor, and a quoted passage from the student's own answer.

03

Bias-monitored

Every subject marker is evaluated against held-out moderator scores per demographic and language group. Drift, disparate impact, and outlier behaviour are surfaced in a public model-card published each IB cycle.

04

Transparent by default

Students and parents can see when AI scored their work, how, and request review at any time.
